Prerequisite: STT 3250
Course Description:
This is continuation of STT 3250 dealing with statistical inference and sampling distributions, estimation and properties of estimators, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. Estimation will include matching moments, percentile matching, and maximum likelihood. The properties discussed will include bias, variance, mean squared error, consistency, efficiency, and uniform minimum variance unbiased estimators. Confidence intervals will estimate the mean, difference of means, variances, and proportions. Hypothesis testing includes the Neyman-Pearson lemma, significance and power, likelihood ratio tests, and information criteria. Other tests covered include those for mean, variance, contingency tables, and goodness of fit.
Attendance and participation: As we are trying to make this experience as close to a regular class as possible, interactivity is important. Therefore you are required have your video on and actively participate in all the class discussions. Attendance will be taken at the end of each class. Students are expected to attend every class. A detailed description of the ASU attendance policy can be found at the following link, [https://academicaffairs.appstate.edu/resources/syllabi-policy-and-statement-information]
Course Text:
